Please note, that if you are using Windows 98 (this does not apply to Windows 98se), or a lower version (Windows 95 or Windows 95 osr2 or Windows NT 4.0), you will need to download and install the data-access components from the following Microsoft site:
MDAC_TYPE.EXE (7.5 MB file)
Also note that you may have already installed these components, for example if you are running Windows 98se, Windows ME or Windows 2000, then you have these components by default, or if you have installed Internet Explorer 5.x - then you would also have these components. So, I would suggest that you first download the game, and install it. Then run it and check if it runs, if not download the above mentioned file.
VERY VERY IMPORTANT: If you are using Windows 95 then you will have to download DCOM95 from Microsoft and install it, BEFORE installing MDAC_TYPE.EXE:
DCOM95 does not apply to Windows 98.
So, first download the game and check if it works, before downloading the other components (but if you are using Windows 98se, Windows ME or Windows 2000 or have installed Internet Explorer 5.x then you should have the required components, so you need not download the Mdac file)
A special thanks to Andrzej DZIENISZEWSKI from Poland (I think), for informing me of the issue with Maniac, which I did not realize, since I was testing Maniac on a newly installed Windows 98se system.
